Kehkashan exports ephedra (Ephedra sinica, E. intermedia) dried herb from origin partners in China, Pakistan, and India for traditional-medicine (TCM / Unani), botanical-extract, and research buyers. Ephedra is a regulated botanical in many jurisdictions — we ship only to buyers holding the required import licence, with a full COA and HPLC alkaloid assay on every lot.

Kehkashan supplies dried Ephedra sinica and Ephedra intermedia stems, cut stems and 40–80 mesh powder to licensed traditional-medicine (TCM and Unani) manufacturers, botanical-extract plants and research institutes. Every lot carries a COA with total ephedrine alkaloids by HPLC. We do not supply dietary-supplement makers in markets where ephedra-alkaloid supplements are banned.
Ephedra-alkaloid supplements are banned in the USA (FDA 2004) and restricted in the EU, Canada, Australia and the GCC. Ephedrine is an INCB Table I precursor, so several countries require an import permit from the narcotics or drug regulator. We verify the buyer licence before quoting and decline orders that cannot be lawfully imported.
Ephedra sinica from Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Gansu is the Chinese Pharmacopoeia reference species. Ephedra intermedia is harvested across Gansu, Xinjiang and Kazakhstan and in Pakistan alongside E. gerardiana from Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan. Indian lots come from Ladakh and Himachal. Species is stated on every COA because alkaloid profile and pharmacopoeia acceptance differ.
Whole dried green stems of 20–40 cm serve TCM decoction buyers. Cut stems of 1–3 cm in 20 kg cartons suit Unani formulators and tea-cut lines. Powder at 40–80 mesh in PE-lined bags feeds extraction plants. Alkaloid-assayed lots are HPLC-titrated to a buyer minimum, typically 1.0% total ephedrine alkaloids, and priced as the premium tier.
E. sinica and E. intermedia stems assay 0.8–1.5% total ephedrine alkaloids; the Chinese Pharmacopoeia floor is 0.8%. Our accredited-lab COA reports ephedrine and pseudoephedrine separately, plus moisture under 12%, foreign matter under 2%, and heavy-metal and pesticide panels aligned to the destination pharmacopoeia. Assay date is within 90 days of shipment.
Each container ships with the HPLC alkaloid COA, an origin NPPO phytosanitary certificate, a Dubai Chamber-attested certificate of origin, a copy of the buyer import licence or permit, and a signed end-use declaration for TCM, pharmaceutical or research use. Bill of lading, UAE Free Zone commercial invoice and lot-coded packing list complete the set for customs clearance.
Whole stems are bulky: 25 kg PP woven bags with PE liner load only 8–10 MT per 20-foot container, so many buyers choose cut stems or powder, reaching 12–14 MT. Moisture stays under 12% to prevent mould and alkaloid loss; cargo is kept from light. Ephedra is never consolidated with other products in mixed LCL shipments.
The minimum order is 500 kg LCL for trials, 2–5 MT for commercial lots and one 20-foot FCL for programme buyers. Lead time runs 21–35 days from confirmed PO and verified licence, with Karachi to Jebel Ali transit of 4–6 days. Pricing is quoted per RFQ by grade and assayed alkaloid content.
Send the species and grade required, target total-alkaloid minimum, destination port and a copy of the import licence or permit issued by your regulator. We confirm within one working day whether the destination can lawfully receive ephedra, then quote FOB Jebel Ali or Karachi, CFR or CIF with the full document set and current harvest assay.
